solo prende y apaga, no hace el post
Hola.
estoy armando otra vez mi pc (de la firma) pero con otros componentes nuevos:
mother: gigabyte ga-x38t-dq6
cpu: c2d e7200
memos: 2x1gb ocz ddr3 gold 1800mhz 9-9-9-27@1.9v (OCZ3G18002GK)
el resto esta todo igual
la cosa es que solo tengo conectado cpu, memos, mother, vga, fuente y nada mas... todo dentro del case... pero al presionar el boton de power del case... la pc enciende, dura como un segundo y luego se apaga... dura un par de segundos apagada y luego ella sola vuelve a encender... y alli se queda en ese loop infinito sin hacer el post... hasta que apago la fuente y todo se apaga definitivamente...

con los componentes viejos todo habia funcionado bien hasta hoy al medio dia cuando traje las demas partes que me faltaban para hacer el upgrade
puse de nuevo todas las partes no nuevas y todo funcional bien, por ese lado estoy tranquilo porque no es la fuente ni la vga... luego volvi a probar las piezas nuevas como al principio pero sigo en las misma...
he pensado en llevar el cpu a algun servico tecnico y que lo prueben a ver si anda en otro mother para ir descartando cosas... las memos estan dificil de probar pues conseguir alguien con ddr3 pues ni hablar... el rma/garantia esta mas que dificil, imposible diria yo... el mother es mi premio del concurso anterior... por otro lado memo+cpu los compré en amazon y llegaron hoy en un currier junto a otras cosas... asi que el rma a los usa, no me cuadra.-
para no andar sacando y poniendo cosas en el case coloque el mother sobre parte de su caja, le conecté la vga, los conectores de la fuente, los fans del case, los botones del case (switches power/reset, leds power/hd, speaker, etc...) y todo lo que está dentro del case lo desconecte de la fuente exceptuando los fans del case...
acabo de hacer clear cmos sacando la pila y haciendole corto con un destornillador donde va el jumper y tambien en los contactos donde se coloca la pila... ninguna mejora, todo sigue igual.-

cuando prende y apaga, sin tener el speaker conectado no se oye nada... pero cuando conecto el speaker, lo que se escucha no es un beep sino mas bien como un click... este click suena cada vez que prende y tambien cada vez que apaga... perdonen mi ingorancia pero, ¿eso significa algo en especial?
cuando recibi el mother... habia un conector del panel trasero justo al lado de los ps/2 (teclado y mouse) creo que se llama coaxial s/pdif que estaba doblado hacia adentro y yo lo enderzé... ahora que lo reviso bien... justo por debajo tiene 3 puyitas de las que salen del pcb... y una esas esta floja... digo floja que la pùedo mover con el dedo... tal vez sea eso lo que esta jodiendo... hace tiempo un amigo en la universidad me comento que el estaba arreglando una pc de un pana... pq el mother tenia un corto en el conector del teclado y no arrancaba por eso... tal vez sea similar el caso
¿sera que alguna de esas puyitas hace un corto activando la protecion contra sobre carga de la fuente y por eso es el prende y apaga?
aqui pongo la foto, lo que está flojo lo señala la flecha roja
no veo pistas cortadas por el reverso del pcb, lo que veo son como manchas pero de suciedad o algo asi como un pegoste leve...
¿como que se limpia eso? alcohol sirve? o mejor ese spray electronico de seguridad?
aqui hay unos detalles que parecen rayones o arañazos...
en esta foto se ve que uno de los rayones pasa por el hueco de los tornillos hasta llegar cerca de un integrado
ya me estoy volviendo loco... alguna sugerencia???
segun la pagina de gigabyte... el c2d e7200 sirve en este mother con el bios F7f que es la ultima version y es una version beta... ¿sera que si le monto un c2d mas viejo y le flasheo el bios se arregla todo?

edit: acabo de llegar de una tienda donde probamos el mother con un Q6600 y por lo visto no es problema del bios... probamos con un C2Q Q6600 que segun gigabyte este mother lo soporta con el bios version F2 que es la version inicial, es decir de lanzamiento... le conectamos el Q6600, y probamos cada memoria por separado en los 4 dimm... pero todavia nada, sigue sin hacer el post...
edit2: cuando fui a la tienda solo probamos el mother, con el ram (1 a la vez en los 4 dimm), la vga y el q6600 prestado... nunca probe mi cpu ni las memorias en otro mother, no tuve tiempo porque el tecnico se salia a las 4pm y yo tambien tenia que hacer otras cosas... luego en la noche al voler a casa hice otras pruebas y aqui estan los resultados:
#1: mother + cpu + mem : prende y apaga solo 2 veces c/u, luego no prende mas.
#2: mother + cpu +vga : prende y apaga solo 2 veces c/u, luego al final hace un BEEEEEP largo y no prende mas. (ese BEEEEP largo parace indicar que el mother reconoce que no hay memorias)
#3: mother + cpu: prende y apaga solo 2 veces c/u, luego al final hace un BEEEEEP largo y no prende mas. (ese BEEEEP largo parace indicar que el mother reconoce que no hay memorias)
en todos los casos le moví la puyita esa que esta floja debajo conector coaxial s/pdif del panel trasero... a ver si tenia algun contacto suleto por ese lado... pero no hubo ninguna diferencia.
ahora me queda por probar lo sugiente:
1)cpu en otro mother
2)memorias en otro mother
3)cpu + mother, con otras memorias
las 2 últimas estan dificil pq los mothers/memos ddr3 no son muy comunes y menos aqui en Vzla, creo que voy a poner un anuncio en ML a ver si consigo algun entusiasta de VLN que este dispuesto.-

Question : Dear Gigabyte Team, I have a X38T-DQ6 (Rev 1.0) motherboard, I won it in Hispazone Forum contest sponsored by Gigabyte España, they sent me the motherboard from Spain to Venezuela... My CPU (C2D E7200) & Memory (OCZ DDR3 Gold 1800 9-9-9-27@1.9V) are brand new, I bought them online in Amazon.com... The MAIN PROBLEM is: This motherboard seems to be DEAD... When I power it on, it remains turned on by few seconds then it powers off by itself, then it stays turned off by others few seconds and it turns on by itself again ... again and again... It's something like a power on/off loop... I do not even have video signal, and my video card is fine because it works ok on my other pc... So I don't really know what bios version the motherborad has because I have not been able to see the diagnostic screen when this data appears... I mean, this mother does not POST... All tests were made with mother, cpu, mem, v.card & psu only... I thought it could be a bios version problem because Gigabyte website says this mother supports C2D E7200 cpu with F7f bios version, so I tried connecting to it a C2Q Q6600 cpu either which is supported with F2 bios version, but it was not successful becuase power on/off loop appears again... I tried to resolve it making a CLEAR CMOS in every possible way and neither succeeded... With both cpus I connected only one memory at a time and changing it to through all 4 dimm slots, I did it with both memories but it didn't work... and all times the speaker's case did not make any BEEP sound, only makes a sound like a CLICK when it turns off... Later, I made more tests... Test # 1 (mother + cpu + mem, without video card): it loops on/off twice, then shut down completely.- Test # 2 (mother + cpu + video card, without memory): it loops on/off twice, but make a long BEEEEEP sound before shut down completely.- Test # 3: (mother + cpu, without memory and without video card): it loops on/off twice, but make a long BEEEEEP sound before shut down completely.- I have not tested the mother with others memories (lower frecuency memories) or these memories with other motherborad because DDR3 ram/mothers are difficult to find here.-

Acabo de hacer las últimas pruebas con otras memorias:
Memorias: 2x1GB DDR3, Kingston KVR1333D3N9/1G (1333MHz 9-9-9- @1.5V)
VGA: Asus 8500GT
Test # A (mother + E7200 + KVR1333D3N9/1G + HD4850): probando cada memorias por separado en los 4 dimms y no hace el POST.-
Test # B (mother + E7200 + KVR1333D3N9/1G + 8500GT): probando cada memorias por separado en los 4 dimms y no hace el POST.-
Test # C (mother + E7200 + OCZ3G18002GK + 8500GT): probando cada memorias por separado en los 4 dimms y no hace el POST.-
NOTA: Tambien probé mis memorias DDR3 OCZ en otro motherboard (Intel DP45SG) donde tenian las memorias KVR1333D3N9/1G y mis memorias funcionan perfectamente.
Realmente no tengo ningun problema si el mother es usado o no, pero...
CONCLUSIÓN: EL MOTHER ESTÁ DAÑADO.-
Tambien me duele el hecho que ya gaste unos cuantos verdes $$$ comprando CPU y Memorias que no puedo utilizar porque el mother no anda... Si a eso le sumo que mandar mi "REGALITO" ida y vuelta a España para hacer RMA si todavia hay algun ticket de compra... + gastos de impuestos, aduana, nacionalizacion, envío, etc, etc... pues como que me sale mas barato y mas rapido comprar un motherboard nuevo... en fin con esto ya no se que hacer.-

- probe cambiando el vendetta por el cooler de stock y nada...
- probe enchufando solo el conector atx12v de 1x4 y luego añadiendole el otro 1x4 para que quede 2x4 y nada...
- probe con los 2 conectores pci-e de la fuente y luego con el adaptador pci-e a molex que trae la 4850 pero todo sigue igual
- probe colocando 1 sola memoria y luego la otra, y tambien cambiandolas de dimm... pero nada...
- ni siquiera da señal de video...

Pros: It's pretty
Cons: Any BIOS above F2 is completely unstable. You get the reboot of death if you use the F3 or F5 BIOS.
Other Thoughts: If you want to overclock don't buy this mobo.

I would stay away from this one for now....
Pros: Because I have not been able to get one motherboard board to work for more than a day (I had three so far, working on the forth from Gigabyte), I can't comment much on the performance, however, the heat control measures are impressive (there is a lot of copper on this board, although if you prefer a non-stock CPU cooler the back copper heat sink will likely have to come off), the overall layout is well thought out. I did get one board ( the 2nd from NewEgg)to boot, setup a RAID5 array and loaded Vista (32-Bit) without a single hick-up. Just couldn't get it to run reliably after that (power up cycling problem described by others) so I RMA'd it.
Cons: I have had three boards (all RMA'd from NewEgg) and not one has worked (two did not even work out of the box). I have had the very same power up loop problem described by several other reviewers. I contacted Gigabyte and was instructed to flash the BIOS to resolve the issue and if that didn't work they explained how to RMA the board, which I did. The problem is that the board is unusable, it powers ON and OFF every 5 to 7 seconds and you never get to an opportunity to get into the Flash application. The board is dead.
Other Thoughts: This is an expensive motherboard and to have something that you can't even work with is beyond frustrating. It sounds like there are some people who get one that works and are very happy (I hope that's me after #4 comes from Gigabyte). I wouldn't recommend taking the risk on this one.

Cons: I flashed the BIOS using their own @BIOS software. POOF! Reboot cycle of death! What about their DualBIOS? Apparently, it's worthless. I'm aghast that such a problem can occur. For a board that's supposed to be future proof, you must, MUST, be able to flash the BIOS without making the board completely non-functional. And Gigabyte tech support said, after suggesting the CMOS be reset, "sorry, you're out of luck, Chuck". Now I'm off to RMA land.
Other Thoughts: Yes, maybe I should have heeded the "Flash the BIOS at your own peril!" warning more seriously. I mean, they don't even cover a flashed board under their warranty. But I've flashed BIOS on numerous pieces of hardware and never had an issue where it was totally unrecoverable. And this is supposed to have some sort of mythical DualBIOS! Yeah, it's a myth alright. I wouldn't consider a GIGABYTE product again.

Cons: DOES NOT WORK. I noticed the same puncture in the inner packaging but the board thankfully was not chipped. However, I also experienced the same 5-7 second rebooting loop without a screen post. RMA in progress and I am very concerned after reading these recent reviews I would never have bought this board. BUYER BEWARE!!!
Other Thoughts: An anti-static bag would have been prudent. I've been building PC's for over a decade and I've never experienced these kinds of problems on a top dollar board. Gigabyte, never again. Toms Hardware just took a credibility hit in my book as well. I want to see if this RMA board has the same problem, if so, in the garbage it goes.

Other Thoughts: An anti-static bag would have been prudent. I've been building PC's for over a decade and I've never experienced these kinds of problems on a top dollar board. Gigabyte, never again. Toms Hardware just took a credibility hit in my book as well. I want to see if this RMA board has the same problem, if so, in the garbage it goes.
Two broken boards
Pros: Very nice packaging.
Cons: Got first board in and after hooking it all up it would reboot every 5-7 seconds all by itself. Isolated the problem to the board, RMA'd it for a replacement. Had the exact same problem! I've never had trouble like this with any board in the past. I noticed another reviewer here had the same problem so buyer beware. I'm sending mine back and using the funds to get something else.

I had to send the first one back because it started rebooting itself every 5-7 seconds. My 2nd board, the replacement for the 1st, worked "okay" until I decided to reinstall the OS (Vista) which was a fiasco and wouldn't complete the process no matter what I did. I've built 50+ machines, so I am not a novice. When I followed Gigabyte's instructions BIOS flashing to "set defaults to optimized" in the BIOS, THE 2ND BOARD ALSO STARTED the reboot process every 5-7 seconds! I tried "clearing CMOS", but just like the 1st board, it did nothing. I'm sending it back tomorrow and ordering a different board. IF you buy this board, I suggest NEVER setting the BIOS to "optimized defaults".

This has been the WORST experience I've ever had with a board. I actually killed both boards using standard (and recommended) procedures. I'm going back to Intel boards...

Question : Dear Gigabyte Team, I have a X38T-DQ6 (Rev 1.0) motherboard, I won it in Hispazone Forum contest sponsored by Gigabyte España, they sent me the motherboard from Spain to Venezuela... My CPU (C2D E7200) & Memory (OCZ DDR3 Gold 1800 9-9-9-27@1.9V) are brand new, I bought them online in Amazon.com... The MAIN PROBLEM is: This motherboard seems to be DEAD... When I power it on, it remains turned on by few seconds then it powers off by itself, then it stays turned off by others few seconds and it turns on by itself again ... again and again... It's something like a power on/off loop... I do not even have video signal, and my video card is fine because it works ok on my other pc... So I don't really know what bios version the motherborad has because I have not been able to see the diagnostic screen when this data appears... I mean, this mother does not POST... All tests were made with mother, cpu, mem, v.card & psu only... I thought it could be a bios version problem because Gigabyte website says this mother supports C2D E7200 cpu with F7f bios version, so I tried connecting to it a C2Q Q6600 cpu either which is supported with F2 bios version, but it was not successful becuase power on/off loop appears again... I tried to resolve it making a CLEAR CMOS in every possible way and neither succeeded... With both cpus I connected only one memory at a time and changing it to through all 4 dimm slots, I did it with both memories but it didn't work... and all times the speaker's case did not make any BEEP sound, only makes a sound like a CLICK when it turns off... Later, I made more tests... Test # 1 (mother + cpu + mem, without video card): it loops on/off twice, then shut down completely.- Test # 2 (mother + cpu + video card, without memory): it loops on/off twice, but make a long BEEEEEP sound before shut down completely.- Test # 3: (mother + cpu, without memory and without video card): it loops on/off twice, but make a long BEEEEEP sound before shut down completely.- I have not tested the mother with others memories (lower frecuency memories) or these memories with other motherborad because DDR3 ram/mothers are difficult to find here.-

Test # A (mother + E7200 + KVR1333D3N9/1G + HD4850): probando cada memorias por separado en los 4 dimms y no hace el POST.-
Test # B (mother + E7200 + KVR1333D3N9/1G + 8500GT): probando cada memorias por separado en los 4 dimms y no hace el POST.-
Test # C (mother + E7200 + OCZ3G18002GK + 8500GT): probando cada memorias por separado en los 4 dimms y no hace el POST.-
NOTA: Tambien probé mis memorias DDR3 OCZ en otro motherboard (Intel DP45SG) donde tenian las memorias KVR1333D3N9/1G y mis memorias funcionan perfectamente.
Realmente no tengo ningun problema si el mother es usado o no, pero...
CONCLUSIÓN: EL MOTHER ESTÁ DAÑADO.-
Tambien me duele el hecho que ya gaste unos cuantos verdes $$$ comprando CPU y Memorias que no puedo utilizar porque el mother no anda... Si a eso le sumo que mandar mi "REGALITO" ida y vuelta a España para hacer RMA si todavia hay algun ticket de compra... + gastos de impuestos, aduana, nacionalizacion, envío, etc, etc... pues como que me sale mas barato y mas rapido comprar un motherboard nuevo... en fin con esto ya no se que hacer.-
